ANNUAL AIHM SCHOLARSHIPS FOR MALDIVIANS
In memory of Dr. Ibrahim Umar Maniku, one of the forefathers of Maldivian hospitality, two scholarships for Maldivian nationals to study at the Asian Institute of Hospitality Management (AIHM) in Bangkok are to be funded by William Heinecke, founder of Minor Hotels.
Covering 100% tuition for the BBA in Global Hospitality Management, scholars will graduate with a well-rounded skill set and preferred employment status at one of our luxury hotels in the Maldives, either the award-winning Niyama, or Anantara or Avani+.

WHAT THE SCHOLARSHIP COVERS
These scholarships cover the following expenses:

- 100% tuition fee for seven semesters / three-and-a-half years (USD 37,995)
- Learning resources and practical arts apparel (USD 4,470)
- Health and accident insurance (USD 2,230)
- Admission fee (USD 100)

Scholarship students are required to maintain good academic standing and participatein 30 hours per semester of CSR for the first two years.

All scholarship students will be expected to commit to working at a Minor hotel property
in the Maldives for an agreed period of time after their studies.

BASIC ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
Nationality: Maldivian
Minimum age: 17.5 years or older upon starting the programme
Education: Applicants must hold a qualification recognised by Thailand’s Ministry of Education, such as:

Completion of Grade 12 or Year 13
-
Two A-levels or IGCSEs
-
An International Baccalaureate (IB) (minimum 24 points)

A GED diploma (minimum 145 points in all four areas)

English-language requirements:

TOEFL: 525 (paper) or 70 (iBT) or above

IELTS: 5.5 average (each section not less than 5) or above

Cambridge FCE/CAE: B2 First or higher

SELECTION PROCESS

By 17 February 2023: Submit a completed application form and all required documentation via our website

20 February 2023: Shortlist of candidates will be announced

27 February – 3 March 2023: Interviews will be conducted online with the selection committee

6 March: Scholarships awarded
